This was Jam night, the stage in not big enough for all the musicians we have at Clearwater. Come and enjoy the music, it is so praise worthy. And what a great group to have coffee with. We had Bryn Thiessen as messenger, the pastor from the Cowboy Trail Church at Cochrane. Cochrane is celebrating their 7 anniversary on the 7th of Feb.
Congrats to Cowboy Trail Church.

We finished the year in grand style, the music at CCC last week was phenominal!!

Mert Wolf did a fine job on some good traditional western songs. The house band was great, the best music around, I'd say.

Dave Emmons did a great speak on prayer, get on your knees!

Jan. 5, we will have a Jam and Toast session, with communion and Bryn Thiessen to do the massage.

Jan. 12, will bring us a treat, Danny and Susan Gibson will bring the music and Paul Furseth the message.

Sixth anniversary

We made it through the snow and winter has settled in with moderate weather, a blessing from our Lord.

Dec. 22, we are planning to do Christmas music with local singers, if you ladies like to sing, come join us at the front. We will have Paul Furseth for the message.
Dec. 29, will be our last service for 2011, we will have Dave Emmons for the message, not sure of the music yet, come and help us usher out the old year and bring in a New Year.

We had a great turnout for out Christmas and anniversary evening, people who haven't been there for six months came back to help us eat all that good food!! Check out the anniversary page for pictures.

Hey, we finally have some real summer weather, what do you know??

We had a real treat on Sept. 8, hearing the new minister from Cambrian Heights Baptist in Calgary, Roy Spannagel, he did a great message.

Sept. 15, we are expecting to hear from MaryEllen Goslin once more, and the message will be presented by Paul Ferseth.

Sept. 22, will bring us a treat with recorded artist Crystal Taylor and hubby Herb doing the message.

Sept. 29, we are expecting another new comer, Dave Emmons doing the message and Dan doing the music.

Oct. 6, will bring us to Kevin Olsen from Red Deer again, with message and music.

Camp-out

Aug.12,13 &14 2011 , was held at Buster Creek -Crimson Lake Hall.

It was a great success again this year. With over 10 units parked for the weekend. A number of folks drove out for the day events and a warm visit.

There were two breakfasts, cooked by cowgirls and cowboys, wagon rides provided by Del Fox, Art Terspma, and Garth Phillips. Campfire jams and a jam in the hall on Sat. after a potluck supper.

George Vanderleek brought wood for the fire, thank you George.

A windup on Sun, with breakfast and Church service, a good message with visiting pastor Dave Evans. And potluck lunch and cleanup to follow. Thanks to Val and Janie for a great job of organizing the event.

Summer is flying by, better catch it soon or it'll be gone.
The plans are progressing well for the future of the CCC, the final draft of the Constitution was approved and the Design team was voted in to start working on nominations for the new election of board members. So be ready to pick your choice for the leadership.
Mike Burns did a great job of gospel music and poetry, good old fashioned gospel!

Aug. 4, will bring us the "Gospel Turbadors", Rick and Carol Plett, for music and message.
Rick and his wife did a great job, a good message, he is a prison minister, so has some real experience to fall back on.
Aug. 11, will feature the Steve Stewart family from Olds, this family did a great job, singing songs I've never heard done before. Here is a picture of the young ones doing their thing.

Aug. 18, we are looking forward to hearing from Rob Holland.

Aug. 25, we will be blessed again with the Doll sisters.

On April 21, we are celebrating Easter in a big way, with pot luck supper followed by Good Friday, Easter and communion all in one. So make sure you gather up some friends and show them what Cowboy Church is all about!

The following week April 28, we are planning a local musicians Jam so bring you toast and butter!!

May 5, we are blessed to have the Larsgards back again.

It's great to see the sunshine, finally, have a happy spring, we hope it gets here soon.

Prayers are in order for some cancer victims, and general poor health, keep all in your prayers. The process of gaining charitable status for CCC is going along nicely. The design team has been working, with Barry Proudlove, leading; and Janie Heikkenen and Jim Earl, chosen from the board. Also Art Terpsma, Karen Ostler chosen from the membership. They are holding a meetings most Tues. evenings, for planning. Pray for spiritual guidance and a smooth transition.

On the first day of Oct. we changed the format a bit to have some of the local poets do their thing between music by the Jammers.

New band from Windfield

This new group of singers were great, the one behind the cross is Robin Wheale from Winfield, AB. They did a suberb job of some old gospel and some original ones, too. Brother Brian is on the far right, and daughter and daughter -in-law, as well as Karen, I forget her last name but she is a good singer.

Where is July going in such a hurry?
Next week is already July 22, at Clearwater Cowboy Church, and we are expecting to hear from the Balyeat Family singers again. Remember them? I remember they were good.
The 29 of July is unknown yet, and Aug. 5 will be another Jam and communion.

Aug. 12, we will be expecting a new comer again, Robin Whale. Come and see.
With the annual Church campout the following day, so keep that in mind. Check the last blog for details on the campout. Tom did a great job of describing that event.
Sorry I didn't get a picture of our last entertainer, DeeAnna Rose from Idaho, she was a terrific performer and left us with a timely message, also she did such a good job, that Tom saved his sermon for next week!!

campout details and stuff!

Don't tell the hall committee but we had 201 people out on the eve of the24th to hear from Deb King about their India experience. WOW! Even the reg'lar preacher's never got the response she did, a standing ovation! ............He ain't that cute! <}:~(
As for the campout, it's Aug. 6, 7, 8th fer those who wanna come!
It's happening at the old CRC camp on the old Crimson Lk Rd (just 'cross the bridge n/west of Rocky on Hwy 11, hang a right 'bout a 1/4 mile or so beyond the bridge and venture just shy of a mile north and you'll see some kinda sign on the right side of the road!
Sat. will see trail rides(for those with horses) and lots of other stuff with a pot luck supper to crown the day. Most likely someone's gonna start a sing song around the fire as well.
Sunday will see a pancake breakfast put on by the men around 9 or so with a church service to follow.
Come for 1 day, 3 days or just for supper if you want. some folks is likely gonna be haying so we understand and some will want to come and go so feel free to do whatever works but please let Bill or Al know what you're thinking so we can try and plan ahead.

Our entry in the local stampede parades has been well received,

our wagon rode in the Caroline and Rocky Parades. As well as

some riders from the Reins of Glory riders. Here are some pictures of the groups.

Lets remember our great free land this month.

July will bring us to church on the first and Canada day.

July 8, will bring back some old favourites, the Southern Gospel Quartette, or Like Father, Like Son. That should be good.

July 15, will present another newcomer, DeeAnna Rose from south of the border in our sister nation, the good old USA.

Our service runs from 7 until 8 each Thurs. evening. If you come early, that is fine, we're open before 6 each time. Come and enjoy the good old favourites with western flavour.

June 17, will find "The Chief", doing the honours.

June 24, we are expecting to hear from the Bystrom family from Caroline.

Tom and Deb are back from their Indian experience, both better for the wear we hope. Praise the Lord, for their safety.

Watch for announcement of our annual camp out, in Aug. this year it will be near Rocky, so closer for a lot of people.

We are having a new years eve service so be sure to come.
There is a dance at the Hall after we are done, but that's not a problem. If you want you could stay for the dance, with local entertainer Amber Williams.

We had a great potluck supper and old fashioned talent night, about 175 people showed up to join in the celebration of our fourth anniversary. The tables were decorated with timely center pieces that were offered for sale, to raise funds for the Church.
We will try to get pictures on one of these days.

Dec. 10, will present another Jam session, bring toast and peanut butter.
Dec. 17, will bring us the youthful band known as 6 Track, they're good!
Dec. 24, Christmas eve, we will be here, come and fellowship with us.
Dec. 31, New Years eve we will be here too, come and you can even stay at the Hall for the New Years dance!

That takes us to the end of another blessed year, the Lord has certainly been good to us!

We're fast approaching winter, but the fall is treating us well so far.

We enjoyed the cheerful visit of Ben Crane last week when winter showed her nasty side.

Hi, it's about time for an update, summer is moving too fast, but Clearwater Cowboy Church is still going on, with more vigor than ever.

OOOPS- I thought it was still July!!!

Aug. 27, we will be seeing a new comer, Aven Grace, I think they said she was from Sask.

Sept. 3, will be the usual Jam session, along with communion, enjoy, good with peanut butter.

Sept. 10, we will again be blessed with Billy Bast and the Fry Pan Boys.

Be prepared, things could change, I hope for the better.

The campout was great, weather was excellent and there were around sixty people there to visit and ride horses, and sit by the fire. A campfire supper was held on night, with potluck food, there was so much food, I think people took more home than they brought! The Lord surely blesses.

We've had some great groups come to our church, with their unique style of music. One such group was the Luke Ham Sandwich band, they performed at Clearwater Cowboy Church on the 14 of May. Their family, consisting of Mom who drives the buss and runs the sound equipment, Grandma, who drives a van and trailer behind, and ten kids who sing and play all kinds of instruments. They have been asked if the kids are adopted, {3 are black}, the answer will be," yes, but we don't know which ones."

I believe they have about five of their own, one is off to collage so is not traveling with the band. They do great bluegrass style music and are a good comic act as well.

CCC is growing all the time.
I thought I'd mention a few highlights from the Kamloops Gathering.
One point of interest, is that a singer who came in on the money was Scott Laitre, whom, I hear, has been at CCC in the past.
The winner of the singing contest was an eleven year old girl from Ontario, named Naomie. She is a real talent.
Also the winner of the poetry division is a local Albertan, Mel Brown from Eckville.
The show at Kamloops was great, with a lot of talent on stage.

Upcoming events at church will be:
April 2, brings us to another communion, you should read the piece on last months, good.

April 9, brings us another Jam session, so you local players, tune up your fiddles and guitars.
The next couple weeks are still on the drawing board and on the 30 of April we are hoping to have the Terpsma's.

Bikers and cowboys....."Hmmmm!" It ain't like that in church. We're all on the same team!

The Larsgards are playing in Trochu at the Baptist Church on Sunday(15) at 6:30PM so if the drive don't bother you..........

Carson Bowhay will be doing his preaching 'debute'? next week so come and see what he has to share.

Longstanding Wild Rose MP Myron Thompson will be here on the 26th to bring the Word.

Dave Gibbs will be sharing whatever God lays on his heart on April 2nd

Communion

This week will be a communion celebration. All are welcome to come and join us. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you're welcome to participate no matter what 'denomination' you may be involved with on Sunday.
Tom will be speaking on the character of John. Be prepared and read John 20;2-8
The Dirstens will share a hymn or two.
Our new chairman, Dave Gibbs will lead the congregational singing. If he looks like he's happy, it's because his good wife, Betty, has returned from Mexico safe and sound.
Carson Bowhay is going to have a go at preaching on the 19th so come and support him as this young feller steps out in service for The Lord. Good on ya' Carson!
Don't forget to mark August 7-9 on yer calender and plan to join us at Barriere Mtn Outfitters for our annual CCC campout.
It was a blast last year so don't miss this one!

It's March!

I guess March came in like a lamb, maybe not a real frisky one, but nice all the same.

Our March events are a little sparse, our music coorindator went to Mexico. I really don't know why he'd do that when it's -20, oh well, we wish him a great trip.

So far, March looks like this:
March 5, is communion night and i think we have a bit of input from Gerry and Geraldene, forgive me if I got that wrong.
March 12, will be Jam night, so don't forget your toast, and your guitar.
I believe there will be a presentation from the CMA, Christian Motorcycle Association.

Winter's Back!

It seems that just last week it was several degrees above freezing. Oh yah, It was!
You'd never know it today.(-22C) Just another winter in sunny Alberta!
But take heart; the days are getting longer, the cows are calving, there's more heat in the sun and spring is just around the corner.
I figure if I keep telling myself that, it will hasten spring's arrival.
Just a note on tomorrow's service.....Tom will be speaking on the character of Job so if you want a head start and an understanding, read the book of Job!
Pay special attention to the latter part where God speaks.
I think the Doll sisters are going to be there as well.

A New Year, a new start. Feb. 15/09

Here's whats up for the next month. Balzac Billy is supposed to have seen his shadow, but here it was dull, so I predict we'll have an early spring, like about May 15.
We're going to have some new faces on entertainment, that's great, it's nice to see new talent. Although we sure appreciate the faithfuls that bless us each week.

March 5, is our usual communion evening, with local entertainment.
March 12, will Jam night so bring your "toast". On this evening we are also going to have a presentation from Ken Forster, who is a minister for the Christian Motorcycle Association. Don't miss this, he's good.

We had a lovely wedding in the home of pastor Tom King on Feb. 14, 2009. We wish God's blessing on them.

It's January 15 and 7 degrees above! Where's the beach!?
Time's-a-ticking! Before we know it the grass will be showing. Hopefully no more nasty cold weather!

Tom is speaking on Bible 'characters' and this week it's the character of Mathew the tax collector.
Here's a story from Landon Saunders that goes to what we, as Christians, should be all about.

Someone once said, "You only have to worry about your New Years resolutions 'till February and then you can give them up for lent!" Not too sure if that's the way it should be done or not.
Here's a scripture to encourage you as you begin 2009.
Mathew 6;33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and ALL these things will be given to you as well."
A promise from Jesus himself to help you as you enter another year. As long as we seek what He wants for us, He promised to provide all the little(and big)stuff.
Wherever you're at, keep your chin up! Jesus loves you!

Another year is past and we're head on into 2009! That didn't take long did it?

We are going to feature another pot-luck supper on our first evening of next year.

We're holding services on Jan. 1, and are planning a get together starting at about

four o'clock in the afternoon, with a pot-luck supper at around 5:30, with services at

the regular time. So bring a couple dishes, enough for all who come with you, and

we'll dine together and start a new year in the fellowship style. Spread the word

about pot-luck and spread the Word of God.

Third Anniversary

All I can say is WOW, our third anniversary supper was to die for!
We had a great supper with food to no end, and well over 200 people filled the hall
to feast and fellowship.
The musical stylings of the Doll girls and the Larsgard family were beyond our expectations
as they did some of their favourite Christmas music and blue grass specials.
Many people attended that had been there maybe once before or hadn't came for a long time.
Of course all the regulars were there if they could possibly make it.

Our upcoming schedule for Dec. is as follows:
On Dec. 18, we are going to have Jake Peters with his superb musical ability to
entertain us.
On Dec. 25, there will be no service, as of course you'll all be home with family, so God bless
your day at home and praise the Lord for His bounty.
Jan. 1 of 2009, -----oh, another year already----- we will be back at the Hall with our usual service.
Please come if you can and enjoy the start of another year of great Christian fellowship at Clearwater Cowboy church.

We're Back on the Blog!!

November will be a big month for Clearwater
Cowboy Church as it brings us to our third
anniversary and the blessing of three years
of growth.

So our up coming events are follows:

Nov. 27, takes us to our big anniversary
celebration. Three years of growth and blessings.
We have been doing so well, THANK YOU LORD.
On that night we are planning to have a potluck supper at 6:30, then services at 7:30, so it will be a bit later than usual. But who don't mind staying a bit later once a year. We are planning to hear from the Larsgard family, and also the Doll girls that night as well. If you're planning on coming for the meal please bring a main dish and a salad or main dish and a desert.

Dec. 4, will bring us to our monthly
communion service and local music.

Dec. 11, it's a surprise, yet, keep
tuned for info, or come and see.

Dec. 18, we're again looking forward to hearing
from the musician extraordinare, Jake Peters.
Talk about class!

And a laugh to close with: It's not hard to meet expenses, they are everywhere.

We were fortunate to have the Larsgard family last week and as always, they were GREAT!
This week(26th) we are going to be awed by the talents of my close personal friend, Jake Peters.
This man can pick! And do anything else he puts his mind to............
Come on out and enjoy an evening of fellowship and worship in the good old country style!

Remember, "God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way!" "He wants you to be just like Jesus!"

From His triumphal entry to Jerusalem through His final week on earth as a man to the horrendous end at Golgotha. In the end, He WON!
Take a moment each day and reflect on what He did and what it means to you in an eternal perspective.............and then, GIVE THANKS!

What's it to you?

As Easter fast approaches
My mind it drifts away,
Back to a time many years ago
To the meaning of this day.

The meaning of Easter is overlooked
In oh so many ways.
So many folks, they do not know
What happened in those three days.

Some think it's just a holiday
Without significance.
A time for eggs and bunnies
For kids to find by chance.

There's so much more they do not know
And do not understand.
It's up to those of us who know
To introduce them to the "Man?

The Man who knew what lay ahead
But yet, onward he went.
Because it was his Fathers? will,
The reason he was sent.

Sent to this world where sin would reign.
He came to pay the price.
He came to take my place in death.
The ultimate sacrifice!

He was stripped, then mocked and beaten,
Then led to be crucified.
With nails in his hands and through his feet,
On that rugged cross he died.

Jesus died for all of us.
In three days he rose again.
Buried with him in the ground
Is all our sin and shame.

If you believe that this is true
And ask God to forgive,
He has promised to do just that.
Then forever with him you'll live.

So when Easter comes lets look beyond,
Though bunnies and eggs are nice.
Let's look to the cross to where He died
And give thanks to Jesus Christ!!

Sorry for the lack of attention to our blog. It's been a little crazy lately.
This Thursday will be a little different as we are involved in a memorial for the late George Clarke. The regular service will go on as usual though.
George's memorial will be at 2:00 at the hall and all who wish to help out can call Janie Heikkinen at 403 845 6864.

2007 was a great year as we surpassed our yearly attendance record by 2497 people!
Did I hear a WOW!

Just into the New Year we are already looking to plan our 'horsey' weekend in Aug.
we have reserved Barriere Mtn. Outfitting's camp for the 2nd weekend in Aug and are looking forward to another weekend of great fun.

January 10 will be our monthly 'Jam' night. Bring your instruments and join us.

Tom is gonna get back on track with his David stories so if you want to read ahead, read 2 Sam. Ch 12.

The second anniversary of the Clearwater Cowboy Church was celebrated on Nov. 22, at the Dovercourt Hall. Nearly 200 people gathered for a supper of beef/turkey on a bun, with lots of salad, veggies and fruit, on the side.
With full stomachs and happy fellowship, they listened to music by the local gang, Lloyd and Sharon Quantz, Alva Tetzlaff, Yvonne Webber, Cathy and Bob Hillock, Bill Sands, and Sharky Schauer who did some opening hymns, and then they were treated to specials with Mike Burns and Benji Bartley who attend our sponsoring church in Calgary, Cambrian Heights Southern Baptist Church.
Mike did a poem about being ready to ride to glory, in combination with his songs.
Poems honoring the anniversary were also given by Pastor Dwayne Bartley from Cambrian Heights Baptist Church and Harold Webber of Sundre.
Dwayne Bartley and Bryn Thiessen gave a complimentary tribute to the second anniversary of the Clearwater Cowboy Church.
Tom King’s message will keep us all on track for another year, reminding us of who we are accountable to.
After the sermon and our usual Cowboy Blessing, an anniversary cake was served along with more good coffee. A cake was also enjoyed in honor of Debbie King’s birthday.
